What is WDC?

WDC (Winter Dance Classic) is a two-day, high-energy dance competition hosted by the Leander High School Blue Belles & Sapphires Dance Team. Created in 1999, this dance competition is known for its professionalism, fairness, and heart, while keeping costs low. WDC brings together school and studio dance programs from across Texas for celebration, challenge, and community.

Held annually at Leander High School, WDC offers two separate tracks. One for K–12 public/charter/private school teams, and one for studio/private programs. So every team is judged fairly and recognized for their unique strengths.

From on-time schedules and top-tier adjudication to a welcoming atmosphere and meaningful awards, Winter Dance Classic is more than a contest, it’s an experience.

Hosted by the Leander Blue Belles & Sapphires

The Leander High School Blue Belles & Sapphires are a nationally recognized dance team with a legacy of excellence spanning over 50 years. Known for precision, creativity, and leadership, the Blue Belles have proudly hosted Winter Dance Classic since 1999.

Along with their incredible Booster Club, a dedicated team of parent volunteers who support logistics, hospitality, and event operations, the Blue Belles produce one of the most organized, welcoming, and well-run competitions in Texas.

Their commitment to student leadership, competitive integrity, and professional production values is reflected in every aspect of WDC, from the judging panels to the performance atmosphere to the legendary director hospitality.

A Word from the Directors

As the directors of the Blue Belles & Sapphires and the organizers of Winter Dance Classic, we believe that competitions should be more than a score sheet. They should be an opportunity to grow, connect, and celebrate what makes each team special.

WDC was created to give teams a space where excellence is recognized, feedback is meaningful, and every dancer feels valued. Whether you’re a first-year team or a seasoned program, you’ll feel the difference the moment you arrive.

We can’t wait to welcome you to WDC26.
